Project Overview
The MENTOR Affiliate Advisory Council (MAAC) comprises the MENTOR National Affiliate Team to provide support and be the liaison to the MENTOR National Senior Leadership Team. It has a chair and co-chair selected from the MAAC affiliate members.
My goal as chair was to create a MAAC that was a feedback loop for the National organization and allowed affiliate leaders to ideate and deliberate issues affecting the mentoring movement, the MENTOR affiliate network, affiliates, local mentoring programs, and young people.
One task I led was creating a system for membership renewal that allowed for long-term sustainability. The membership is now on a two-year membership cycle, with half being 1st-year members and the others completing their second year of membership. We agreed that Affiliate CEOs should be required to serve a 2-year term if their state assignment is called. We will consider new leaders, the strength of the affiliate, or personal considerations when inviting the CEO to fulfill their terms. At which point they can differ their membership for a year.
